The READ project aims at improving literacy in basic school children by using after school activities that are child centered and friendly. These children also included the marginalised such as the girl child and the disabled. Establishing reading clubs as well as extra-curricular activities and promoting an enabling environment for teaching and learning are some of the tools that will be applied.
The project is focused on communities in Northern Ghana with its first beneficiary being the Nanvili community located in Yendi municipality of the Northern region of Ghana. This community is severly lacking in basic social amenities such as electricity, potable drinking water amongst others however, its members have indicated significant willingness to improve upon their literacy by putting their education first. We believe that with KARIMBU this can be made a success
In addition to providing a better education for these communities, KARIMBU has setup the shea butter shop which aims at providing entrepreneurial support to parents of these school going children especially the women. You can purchase or place an order for quality shea butter HERE!
